Marketing Tips for Christian Entrepreneurs by Laurie Neumann

As Christian entrepreneurs, I know we all want to market our businesses in ways that reflect our Christian values.  Deception, arm-twisting or being anything other than ethical should not have any place in our marketing.  So what does that leave?

Being upfront and honest should highlight our marketing campaign.  That doesn’t mean we should downplay or product or service, but it does mean we need to be honest about who it would benefit and who it would not.  Don’t just try to “make the sale” but determine whether what you offer is a good fit for someone.  If it isn’t, tell them that and recommend something else that would be a help to them, even if it isn’t your own product.  It’s kind of like the whole idea of sending people to other stores where they can find toys at reasonable prices in the Christmas move “Miracle on 34th Street.”  Do what is best for the customer and you will find they come back to you over and over.

I have had to turn down several people who wanted to buy my Home Business Guide because they lived outside the United States, and I don’t feel the guide would be that beneficial to them.  When we do that, people begin to trust us, and when we do have something that will be a help to them, who do you think they will come to for it?

Philippians 2:3-4 says “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.  Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”  When we apply this verse to our business, to me, this means that we should not try to just do what’s best for our business but should look out for the good of others – what is truly in their best interest?

Laurie Neumann, owner of Christian Home Business Connection, offers a twelve-week course in Marketing, which is based on the idea that we can and should implement Marketing strategies that fit who God made us to be.  These will be the strategies that are truly effective for our business.  Visit http://www.christianhomebusinessconnection.com/home-business-marketing.html for details.

I admire the way you spread the word of God in day to day living, which people do, like in their businesses. I have faith in God as a christian but in terms of action its still lesser than your doing right now. Keep it up.
