Charissa’s Story:

I created Pure Qualities four years ago when I was in distress. Every day I fought with my boyfriend at the time. We were both miserable.

At one point I berated him for 4 hours in the front yard while he tried to rake the fall leaves. I was uncontrollable. He begged me to please stop but it was as if I had been snatched out of my body and I was on autopilot.

After hours of yelling and spewing inconceivable accusations my soul was spent. I went to a private room and cried to God. I had reached my bottom and was desperate.

I was raised in a Christian home, the daughter of a minister. His message was how to be in the Spirit. I knew that if I were in the Spirit I would be happy. I didn’t understand what that meant although I had heard my father speak about it many times.

He had written a book concerning this topic and so I went to my bookshelf and began to read about it. It was simple yet inspiring. I had hit gold and I needed to spin that gold within my spirit.

I learned that there are certain qualities throughout the Bible that explain what the Holy Spirit IS. It also speaks of qualities that the devil IS. The Holy Spirit qualities are life giving while the devil’s qualities take away life.

God is all the eternal qualities completely including love, understanding, truthful, trustworthy, forgiving, faithful, and knowledgeable. We have these qualities within our spirit to a certain degree while God is these qualities 100%.

I began to take one quality and practice it for one week in every situation. I wanted to learn and practice each quality so it would build within my spirit.

I started with gentle and quiet spirit as said in 1 Peter 3:4. It was hard at first but it was the first one I needed to practice because my mouth had gotten me into so much trouble. I also needed to be able to hear God and His direction for my thoughts instead of my emotions having control. As I began to practice this quality the fighting began to diminish and I was beginning to feel peace in my spirit.

I knew I was onto something and so I continued with the next life giving quality, understanding. I needed to understand others and myself better before my emotions took over.

Since I was quiet the week before it was easier to understand because I had an ear to hear others and myself. I began to ask questions before jumping to damaging conclusions. Once I began to understand it was easier to forgive, which is the next quality. I continued on with each quality building in my spirit.

This is how Pure Qualities was created. The program focuses on 16 qualities from the Bible and includes 16 wallet-sized cards that focus on each quality with inspirational words to remind you throughout the day to practice the quality.

When you practice the quality on the smaller every day challenges you are better equipped for the larger ones. Also included is a series of emails sent twice a week with a short story or inspirational reminder of the quality. Each quality is practiced for one week. My life has been transformed and so will yours.

I began to understand what it meant to be in the spirit and how to be more like God. He is all of these life-giving qualities 100% while I am only in part. When practicing these qualities you are practicing being in the Spirit. This is our ultimate calling to be like God in every action.
